There is no tick-free season in Bangalore. Ticks are active all year, with noticeable rises in the warmer months and after the rains, when grass and shrubs are thick.
Why ticks matter
Ticks are not just itchy. They can spread tick fever (diseases such as ehrlichiosis and babesiosis), which can make dogs seriously ill.
See a vet promptly if your dog has had ticks and shows:
- fever, dullness or unusual tiredness
- loss of appetite
- pale gums
- nosebleeds or bruising
- weakness or difficulty walking
Where ticks hide on your dog
Run your fingers slowly over your dog after every walk, and check:
- inside and behind the ears
- between the toes and under the paw pads
- under the collar and around the neck
- in the armpits and groin
- around the tail and eyelids
Where ticks hide in your home
The brown dog tick can complete its whole life cycle indoors. Check and clean:
- your dog's bedding (wash hot, weekly in tick season)
- sofas, cushions and the corners of rooms
- cracks in walls and floors, and behind furniture
How to protect your dog
- Use a vet-recommended preventive all year: spot-ons, chewables or collars. Do not stop in the cooler months.
- Avoid long grass and shrubby areas on walks where possible.
- Check daily in peak season and after every outing.
- Treat the home at the same time as your dog.
- Keep up grooming. A well-kept coat makes ticks easier to spot.
If your dog already has ticks
A single bath does not solve an established infestation. Eggs and hidden ticks survive. Our Complete Tick & Flea Elimination Therapy combines inspection, treatment and careful manual removal, followed by a protective layer and a plan for your home. Neem therapy can help soothe skin afterwards.
