How to Choose a Groomer in Bangalore: 7 Questions to Ask

Grooming is not just a haircut. A good session looks after your dog's skin, keeps them calm and catches problems early. A bad one can leave your dog anxious, nicked or with irritated skin.

Ask these seven questions before you book.

1. Do you check the skin before you start?

A good groomer looks at the skin, ears and paws first, and tells you what they see. If the answer is "we just bathe and cut", keep looking.

2. Which products do you use, and why?

Ask whether shampoos are made for pets and matched to skin type. Human shampoos and one-product-for-all are red flags.

3. How do you handle nervous or difficult dogs?

Look for breaks, patience, treats and a willingness to stop. Rough restraint teaches dogs to fear grooming for life. This matters most for puppies; see stress-free puppy grooming.

4. Will my dog be left in a cage dryer?

Unattended heated cage dryers have caused serious overheating. Ask how dogs are dried and whether they are supervised.

5. What happens if you find a problem?

Ticks, a lump, an ear infection: you want a groomer who tells you and suggests the right next step, including a vet if needed.

6. Can I see where my dog will be groomed?

Clean, calm, well-ventilated spaces are a good sign. Many dogs waiting in a noisy room is not.

7. Do you do more than grooming?

Persistent itching, smell, dandruff and shedding are skin problems, not grooming problems. A salon that can treat skin saves you going round in circles.
