The most common mistake is treating the ride as an afterthought.
Why the ride matters so much
- Cancellations. Many regular cab drivers refuse pets. You find out at the last minute, often after a 15-minute wait.
- Stress before you arrive. A dog who has waited, been refused and squeezed into a small car arrives at the vet or salon already anxious.
- Unsafe set-ups. Dogs in the front seat, heads out of windows, no harness: one sudden brake in Bangalore traffic is enough for an injury.
- Heat. A car waiting in the sun heats up fast. Dogs cannot cool down by sweating the way we do.
How to get it right
- Book the ride when you book the appointment. Not when you are ready to leave.
- Use a cab that expects your pet. It removes the cancellation risk completely.
- Leave buffer time. Bangalore traffic is unpredictable; a rushed pet parent means a stressed pet.
- Secure your pet with a harness, crate or carrier.
- Bring water and a towel, even for a short trip.
- Plan the return. Getting home after a vet visit or grooming session is often harder to arrange than getting there.
